If you’re needing a change and feeling inspired to make some big positive improvements in your life, I’m sharing my best tips on how to create your dream life below! So many of us are taught that the only way to succeed in life is to get a college degree and keep grinding until you find a job with a half decent salary, but it doesn’t have to be that way. You can be successful on your own terms, setting your own hours and even your own income. Keep reading for my top tips on how to create the life you dream of living!

1. Get Into The Right Mindset
The first step in creating your dream life is to get your mind working right. Work on removing mental blockages that may be limiting your personal growth, such as self doubt, fear, insecurities, etc. You also need to be able to tune out the people who are going to doubt you, and there will be plenty of them. These things and people only serve to limit you and keep you from reaching your full potential. People are going to question you and you’re going to have all kinds of fears about whatever it is you’re setting out to do – whether that’s quitting your job to start your own business (read my full tutorial on starting a profitable blog that you can turn into a full time career by clicking HERE) or moving to another country for a year to teach English. That is completely normal, and it all stems from fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of rejection, fear of failure, etc. A lot of the time people are just trying to look out for you because they care about you. Just know that on the other side of all of these fears and insecurities is the life you’ve always dreamed of living, and you can and will make it to that other side if you really focus and put your mind to it.
There are so many resources out there that can help you with improving your mindset – be it books, podcasts, websites, whatever, there’s a ton of info on this topic available! My favorite way to learn is by picking up a physical book and actually going through and highlighting things that are super relevant to me. I’ll list my favorite books below that have all really helped me and are packed with valuable information on how to become the best possible version of yourself!
Remember that your mindset is everything. The thoughts you have and the things you speak become your reality one way or another, so make sure you make the right investments in yourself right off the bat!

2. Envision Your Dream
More than anything, if you keep your goal in mind and stay dedicated, you’ll be able to achieve it because everything you do will be aimed at accomplishing it, whether or not you even fully consciously realize it. Therefore, creating an inspiration board is always a good idea: take a bulletin board and pin your favorite pictures that remind you of your dream life and keep it on a wall where you’ll see it frequently.
Nothing will motivate you more than seeing your dream life right in front of you and knowing exactly what it is that you want to make happen for yourself. So go ahead and create your mood board, or even a Pinterest board, of the places, experiences and things that you see as being a part of your ideal life, and hang it somewhere that you’ll see it multiple times per day.
Here are some amazing digital mood board examples:

You can also try writing about your goals and objectives in a notebook every day so they’re brought to the front of your mind on a regular basis. Anything that reminds you of what you’re working towards will help to keep you motivated and on the right track!
I also love this resource that talks all about setting up a master plan to achieve a goal!
3. Find Your Motivation
Once you’ve gotten into the right mindset and figured out exactly what kind of dream life you want to create for yourself, the next step is to figure out your “why”. Why do you want to change your current circumstances? Are you in a job that you don’t love? Do you wish you were making more money? Do you just want to be able to travel more or spend more time with your friends and family? Whatever it is, use it to push you forward out of your comfort zone so you can improve your life. For me, I always knew I didn’t want to commit to a 9-5 office job and have maybe two weeks of vacation time a year because I love to travel and that just wasn’t going to cut it. So I read everything I could on entrepreneurship and how to become a full time blogger and because I put my mind to it and devoted myself to it, I was able to make it happen (and so can you!). I wrote a full guide on how to turn your blog into a full time income, check it out here!
If you don’t find your motivation, you’ll have no reason to change things and you’ll wonder why you feel so stuck all the time. Motivation is everything – think of it as the driving force that will push you into bigger and better things to come!
4. Start Planning and Execute
The biggest thing that helps me when it comes time to actually get to work on my dreams is always writing things out and keeping a daily planner. I use my planner to draw out timelines that include what date I want to complete each task on my to do list by, and on my to do list everything is always broken into small, medium, and larger size tasks.
This same tip can be applied to many scenarios in life. Whether you’re going for a promotion at work, trying to hit your fitness goals, or any other outcome you might be working toward, you’re more likely to remember and internalize things if you write them down. Get a journal or planner and list out every single task that you think will help move you closer to achieving your goal, no matter how small the task may seem, because progress is progress and at the end of the day it all adds up!
Below are some of my favorite brands for journals and personal planners. The planner I personally am using right now is a Day Designer x Blue Sky one and I love it because it has a built in “to do list” section next to each and every day of the week and there are also pages at the front specifically for goal planning and then pages at the back for notes and anything else you would want to write in your planner!

5. Save $$$
If you want to create your dream life, you need to align your lifestyle and spending habits with where you envision yourself financially. It takes discipline, but start saving everything you can and stop ordering Postmates as much! Why? Because you need to have some money in the bank in order to keep yourself on track mentally. You won’t be as focused and intent on making it big if you’re constantly stressed about how you’re going to be able to pay your bills. You’re actually just going to start doubting yourself more and moving back into old habits that you already worked hard to get rid of if you’re super stressed about money. So the more you can save, the better off you’ll be!
When I was 18 I started saving a good amount of money by generally trying to stick to a rule I made for myself where I would save 75% or more of my disposable income and spend the remaining percentage on clothes and makeup just so I wouldn’t go crazy. Everyone has bills they have to pay but most of us also have the freedom to decide what we want to do with the rest of our income. Instead of going out to restaurants and spending my money on expensive dinners or drinking, I skipped out on that stuff in favor of doing that kind of thing now that I’ve gotten to where I always wanted to be. It was a bit of a sacrifice but it’s for sure not one that I regret, and I can guarantee that once you accomplish your goal you won’t regret being smart with your money either.
Pinterest is a great resource for finding all kinds of information on how to save money, even if you don’t have much to save. I pin a lot of finance and money saving tips to my account, check it out by clicking here 🙂
6. Stay Focused
You know the saying “your dreams don’t work unless you do”? Yeah, that’s 100% accurate! It’s going to take a ton of hard work and dedication on your part, but it will be so worth it in the end when you’ve created the lifestyle that you’ve always envisioned but never really thought possible. It won’t be easy (if it was, everyone would be living exactly how they always dreamed they would be) but it will be amazing when it finally comes to fruition. Keep your focus and you’ll be surprised at how your life will start to change right before your eyes.
