With all of the stress going on in the world this year, we all need to start taking better care of ourselves! This calming evening self care routine will help you relax and unwind before you go to sleep, which means that you’ll sleep better and be better rested every day. When you’re well rested, it’s more likely that you’re going to be less stressed during the day!
I personally like to follow a nighttime routine because it really helps me get into a peaceful state of mind before I go to bed. If I don’t follow a routine and just stay up late watching TV or on my phone I honestly REALLY feel the effects the next day. So why not practice a little self care and indulge in a relaxing evening self care routine like this one?
To adapt this self care routine to your style and your ideal evening, just take a piece of paper and write out your priorities and things you want to do for you. Then figure out how much sleep you personally need, your ideal bedtime, and write out a schedule of self care things you want to do that you can try to stick to every night before you go to bed!

Relaxing Evening Self Care Routine:
10:00 PM – Light A Candle, Or Put On A Diffuser
10 pm is a good time to start winding down for the night and shutting your mind off, so if you can, put away your phone and all technology at this point.
Then, to get yourself super relaxed and ready for bed, you can light a couple candles or turn on your diffuser to boost the air around you with relaxing essential oils! Both of these things are super calming and will make your space feel like a spa! This diffuser is my absolute favorite and it looks so cute and elegant in any room.
10:30 PM – Journalling
This is something pretty new that I started doing recently, and it basically just involves taking ten minutes or so to write down anything that is potentially bothering you or how you’re feeling before you go to sleep.
I didn’t think it would really do anything and was super skeptical about it at first, but it actually REALLY helps. I find that I’ve been sleeping more soundly ever since I started doing this and I would definitely recommend you try it out too!
10:45 PM – Brush Teeth + Skincare Routine
Now is the time to practice your oral health by brushing, flossing, and mouth washing, and then getting into your skincare routine! I set aside half an hour for both of these things because I would say they each take me about fifteen minutes all in all. It might be different for you, so just calculate exactly how much time you need for each of these things and plan accordingly.
For oral care, I love using nontoxic and cruelty free products like the ones that the Hello brand makes (they have lots of fluoride free options). They are super cute – everything from their packaging to the actual products themselves. And, they’re currently sold at Target and Ulta, so they’re becoming a major household name!
ANOTHER bonus about the Hello brand products is that they make CBD infused mouthwash and hemp toothpaste, which are both pretty much perfect for a relaxing evening routine because CBD and hemp will help to relax you and calm your anxiety!
Oral Health and Skincare Favorites:
11:15 PM – Meditation
By 11:15, it’s time to completely wind down and start a 10 minute meditation. Meditation can be done so many different ways, even if it’s just you sitting in silence for five or ten minutes with your eyes closed. The point of meditation is to get your mind to a place where you’re more at peace and less worried and stressed.
I use an app that I love called Headspace – it’s full of a bunch of different relaxing stories and videos that are designed to calm you and help you fall asleep!
11:30 PM – Time For Bed
Now it’s time to go to sleep! This is the time that I aim to have my head on the pillow, my eyes shut, and my mind switched off. After doing all of the steps above, you should be in a much better place mentally so you can get a really good sleep and wake up feeling great the next day.
With all of those boxes checked, the only thing you need to do now is try for that solid 8+ hours of sleep so you can wake up feeling well rested and recharged!
