So lately it’s become more evident to me than ever that minimalism is key to having clarity and feeling in control of your life. We all have so many accounts, passwords, appointments, and just things going on that we have to keep track of, which leads to anxiety and stress over having to remember it all. So today I have a few tips to reduce all of this noise that I live by and that really help me, and I hope they can help you simplify your life and become more productive too!
Sometimes it can be hard to know where to start when you’re feeling completely overwhelmed in life, and I think these tips are the best starting point because they’re all things that you can do right now that will benefit you in both the short term and the long run.

Commit To Using A Planner
I always recommend to everyone who asks me about this to use a planner! It’s the only way to keep track of all of your appointments, work stuff, school projects and deadlines, and everything else going on in your life. The less you have to physically remember in your head, the less stressed you will be. Planners just make life so much easier!
I linked some cute ones below if you are in need of one for the new academic year:
Be More Mindful With Your Time
Do you ever just spend hours scrolling through your Instagram feed? We’ve all done it, and it’s fun but it’s also unfortunately a huge waste of valuable time. I feel like we all complain about how there’s never enough time in a day, but at the same time most of us are not utilizing the time we do have to its fullest and are wasting a lot of the day away by scrolling or watching Netflix.
So a big way that you can simplify your life and become more productive is to carefully watch what you’re spending your time on when you’re not working or doing something else important. You can set your phone to send you notifications about your daily screen time so you know exactly how much time you’re on your phone every day! You can also check out this post on how to be more mindful for some easy tips to improve your focus!
Take that time that you’re wasting and use it to read a book, listen to a podcast, or work on yourself in any way you can!
Use A Password Manager App
As you download more and more apps, and create more accounts, the amount of passwords you have to remember typically grows exponentially over time! Unless you use the same password for all of your accounts (but that’s not really recommended) there’s a good chance you’re going to forget the passwords to at least a couple of your accounts.
To simplify your life significantly, you can download a password saving app like Keeper! You can save an unlimited number of your passwords on the app for free, and downloading the paid version of Keeper will enable you to sync all of your passwords across all of your devices. I think the free version is great and more than good enough for most people.
Declutter Your Space
I talk a lot about this on my blog, and it’s because it’s honestly so important for mental clarity and helping you to be more productive. It becomes really difficult, if not impossible, to get work done and do it well when you have clutter taking up every surface around you. That just creates stress and anxiety that is completely unnecessary! When you have an organized and clutter free space to work and live in, you will just have a much better sense of peace and calm.
I have this post on some things you can declutter right now to help get you started with your decluttering!
Automate Your Life
Bills, subscriptions, whatever you can! Save your credit cards on file with your utility company so that you’re automatically charged every month and you don’t even have to think about it.
There are also lots of brands that let you subscribe, and they will send you your products whenever you need them – like your favorite vitamins, for example! Amazon definitely has this feature so you can subscribe to pretty much anything. That way, you won’t have to put some stuff on your grocery list since it’s just automatically being shipped to you at your own designated time intervals.

I love this! Lately I’ve been enjoying not being productive, I wake up, take a shower, have breakfast, and start working without a plan to follow. However everything is organized. That way I don’t have to stress or hurry on things. I can just enjoy what I’m doing.

I absolutely love this post, Caitlin! I agree with all of these, especially keeping a planner and staying mindful. My planner helps keep me sane and I actually enjoy spending time working on it. Being present and remember to be grateful for everything I have is also super helpful.
